Funny traffic lights and beautiful castles.
Was walking around in Mainz (Germany) this morning, when I noticed these funny pedestrian traffic lights.
If you’ve ever seen the “Werbung” (advertizements) on German TV you’ll recognize the character. What’s perhaps even more whimsical is that I took the picture exactly when the light changed from red to green, and somehow both lights are visible at the same time!
After walking around the old town of Mainz, I hopped on a boat to go for a trip down the Rhine River, passing many beautiful old castles along the way.
The boat went as far as St. Goar, from where I took a train to Koblenz, where I also spent some time walking around.

In an effort to continue looking at the bright side of life in these worrying times, the Whim of the Week series features sometimes funny or unusual, sometimes beautiful or inspiring, but generally whimsical observations I happen to capture on camera during my wanderings around the world.
