A bird’s-tail view…
And a very big bird it was! Flew from Tokyo back to Vienna, via Dubai, in a big Airbus A380 from Emirates. Had already flown in these before, and one of their nice features that makes the flight more enjoyable, even if you don’t have a window seat, is that they have several cameras on the outside of the plane, the views from which you can follow live during the flight on your personal entertainment screen. I especially like the one on the tail. The quality is not that great, but it does give a rather special perspective of the whole flight.
Just after take-off from Dubai.
Somewhere over Turkey.
Descending through the clouds.
Approaching Vienna. The Neusiedler See on the right.
And finally, almost there…
A whimsical engineer who came up with this one!

In an effort to continue looking at the bright side of life in these worrying times, the Whim of the Week series features sometimes funny or unusual, sometimes beautiful or inspiring, but generally whimsical observations I happen to capture on camera during my wanderings around the world.
