Whim of the Week – 51

Space invaders…

I had a visitor in my office this morning that looked like a creature from outer space. Luckily it was very peaceful though, and actually quite beautiful. (Click on any of the pics for a full-size view.)

After admiring it for a while I decided to put it outside. Then I noticed it was missing two legs. Its right-front leg is gone (you can see just a little stump)…

…and its left-rear leg as well (another little stump). So it had some trouble walking.

But then it decided to use its wings instead, and fly off into outer space again. It reminded me of another beautiful space invader that visited me once during a hike.

Nature’s whimsical beauty and diversity keep amazing me…

whimsical (adj.): Determined by chance or impulse or whim rather than by necessity or reason. Playful or fanciful, especially in a humorous way. (Source: The Free Dictionary)

In an effort to continue looking at the bright side of life in these worrying times, the Whim of the Week series features sometimes funny or unusual, sometimes beautiful or inspiring, but generally whimsical observations I happen to capture on camera during my wanderings around the world.
