Whim of the Week – 39

Vegetarians beware!

On a funny walking tour through Vienna highlighting the “ugly side” of the city, we were made aware of this all organic and vegetarian eatery (right) adjacent to a horse butchery (left). Makes you wonder if the respective owners are on good terms with each other.

That evening we had dinner in a typical Viennese Schnitzel restaurant. Surprisingly, they did have a vegetarian section in their menu as well, but the description was a bit suspicious. Do they mean to say that “normal” vegetarian food may still come with meat??

This next one I had already included in an earlier post, but this seems to be an appropriate place to repost it. A thoughtful sign from a local cafe in Lausanne, Switzerland.

whimsical (adj.): Determined by chance or impulse or whim rather than by necessity or reason. Playful or fanciful, especially in a humorous way. (Source: The Free Dictionary)

In an effort to continue looking at the bright side of life in these worrying times, the Whim of the Week series features sometimes funny or unusual, sometimes beautiful or inspiring, but generally whimsical observations I happen to capture on camera during my wanderings around the world.
