Mitteralm, Austria

1 June 2019

With the chairlift from Aflenz up to the Bürgeralm, and then via the Schönleitenhaus and Zlackensattel to the Mitteralm. Very windy and cloudy weather, which actually added to the dramatic views!

The hardest part of the hike was going up the ski slope to the Schönleitenhaus.

But the real views started just behind the mountain hut.

Some fellow mountaineers. They were actually much better at it than me...

Then I got up into the clouds.

And into a winter wonderland. And that on the first day of June...

Good thing the trail was marked with poles.

My turnaround point. Never got to see much more than this, although there are some big mountains on the other side.

Hard to see because of the foggy weather, but this is a Ptarmigan (Schneehuhn). Beautiful bird, but alas, no better view than this.

On the way back down the sun actually came out for a tiny little while!

The view from the chairlift back down to Aflenz.

And finally, a panoramic view of where I had been.
