Vienna, Austria, to Mallorca, Spain (flight)

16 March 2017

Flying from Vienna to Mallorca on a clear and beautiful day. One of the most spectacular flights I've ever been on, with many recognizable places along the way.

The Hohe Wand, just south of Vienna.

Just a little further along, the Schneeberg (right) and Raxalpe (left).

Along the border between Austria and Slovenia.

Lake Bled (Slovenia), just right-below the center of the picture. The little dot in the lake is the island with the church on it. To the right are the Karawanken, and to the left the Triglau National Park.

A closer view of the mountains in the Triglau National Park.

A little later, flying directly over Venice!

Still a tiny little bit of snow left in the Appennino mountains (central Italy).

Then the Ligurian coast, looking towards Portofino and Genoa.

The Cote d'Azur, with the Alps coming all the way down to the Mediterranean Sea, right on the border of France and Italy.

Then after a while flying directly over Menorca.

And finally Mallorca, looking at Cap de Ferrutx.

A view of Cap de Formentor.

And then the Serra de Tramuntana, which I would be hiking through shortly.

A rough reconstruction of the flight path.
