Schafberg, Austria

27 February 2017

From St. Wolfgang via the Schafbergalm to the top of the Schafberg (1783m). A tough hike (16km with 1400m elevation), but with spectacular views. There is actually a little cogwheel train going up to the top, but it's not running this time of the year, so I had the whole mountain to myself!

A group of chamois in the distance.

After a long climb up, views on all sides from the top.

After a well-deserved lunch, the same way down again.

After a long climb down, finally back at the lake.

Some panorama shots (scroll right to see it all).

The hike and elevation profile.
