Praying helps! Or does it? Depends on who you ask, it seems…
Recently these billboard-sized ads started popping up in various places in Vienna. Translated, it reads: “Praying helps. God is always online.” Too bad he’s always too busy to answer his email though.
At around the same time, I randomly came across this ad (from 2007) from an Austrian photo archive. This one reads: “Since praying doesn’t help, vote communist!” As is often the case in this world, the truth seems to depend on who spends the most money on advertizing & promotion…
Somewhat related, just a few weeks ago I received an email from an old friend with the following bible quote taken from Job 2:2 (International Standard Version). Of course I can very much appreciate this one!
The LORD asked Satan, “Where have you come from?” In response, Satan told the LORD, “From wandering all over the earth and walking back and forth throughout it.”
whimsical (adj.): Determined by chance or impulse or whim rather than by necessity or reason. Playful or fanciful, especially in a humorous way. (Source: The Free Dictionary)
In an effort to continue looking at the bright side of life in these worrying times, the Whim of the Week series features sometimes funny or unusual, sometimes beautiful or inspiring, but generally whimsical observations I happen to capture on camera during my wanderings around the world.
