15 Feb 2017: My latest pop-sci piece about using mathematics and computers to preserve biodiversity is now available on The Naked Scientists.
Whim of the Week: In an effort to continue looking at the bright side of life in these worrying times, I've started a series of whimsical observations with funny, unusual, or inspiring things I happen to capture on camera during my wanderings around the world.
I decided to take two months off (March and April) to do some traveling and hiking in various places. Don't expect any quick responses from me during that time!
25 Feb-1 Mar 2017: St. Wolfgang, Austria, to do some hiking in the Salzkammergut.
8-13 Mar 2017: Rotterdam & Amsterdam, The Netherlands, to visit family and friends, and present a seminar at the eScience center.
16-31 Mar 2017: Mallorca, Spain, to do some hiking (and relaxing too!).
3-7 Apr 2017: Uppsala & Stockholm, Sweden, to present a seminar at the Centre for Interdisciplinary Mathematics of the University of Uppsala, and do some sightseeing in Stockholm.
10-14 Apr 2017: Prague, Czech Republic and Krakow, Poland, for some sightseeing (Prague) and to visit a friend (Krakow).
17-30 Apr 2017: tbd.

And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but it's sinking
And racing around to come up behind you again
The sun is the same in a relative way, but you're older
Shorter of breath, and one day closer to death...
