From Matrei up along the Brettenwandbach into a beautiful narrow valley, up to the Wallishe Hütte and a little beyond, with the impressive Brettenwandspitze (2887m) towering above.
Slowly the views started opening up.
The first views of the Brettenwandspitze.
There were many of these little dams along the way, probably to reduce erosion and landslides.
The views back down the valley.
A lucky encounter!
And finally, my lunch spot, pretty much where the track ended.
Then the same path all the way back down again. A last look back up.
And arriving back in Matrei, with its pretty church.
The hike and elevation profile.
