Was invited to present a seminar at the University of Fribourg, Switzerland. After spectacular views of the Alps on the plane from Vienna to Zurich, I spent a couple of hours later that afternoon wandering around in the old town of Fribourg, which is located in a beautiful spot along a bend in the Sarine river, which traditionally forms the language border between the German and French speaking parts of Switzerland. Very enjoyable indeed!
Taking off from Vienna, with the clouds above the plains disappearing where the foothills start.
A view of the Schneeberg (center of pic) and the Raxalpe (to its right), the two closest "real" mountains to Vienna, both with a little bit of snow already on top.
And then a nice walk through the old town of Fribourg along the river, with some beautiful fall colors on display.
