Elisabethkirchlein, Schneeberg, Austria

4 April 2016

From Losemheim up the Nordlicher Grafensteig, and then up the steep Oberer Herminensteig to the famous Elisabethkirchlein. This climb was much harder, but also more spectacular, than I had thought, including almost an hour of scrambling up steep rocks using hands and feet, made even harder by the bits of snow still lingering on the trail here and there. But very much worth it! Then down along the much easier trail along the railroad track (which is not running yet this time of year, so I had the whole mountain to myself!!). A long and hard hike, but wow, spectacular views...

Of course I simply had to go up this trail, in honor of my mom, who's name is Hermien.

Almost at the top. Just 10 more minutes of almost vertical rock scrambling...

The hike and elevation profile.
