Le Molard & Gorge du Chauderon, Switzerland

12-13 August 2015

From Les Avants up to Le Molard (1752m) to watch the Perseid meteor shower during the night. The next morning back to Les Avants via Col de Soladier, and continuing through the Gorge du Chauderon all the way down to Montreux. Wonderful weather, wonderful views, and lots of meteors! (Unfortunately my simple point & shoot camera has no chance of actually capturing one...)

A familiar view of Dent de Jaman (left) and Rochers de Naye (right).

Sunset over Lac Leman (Lake Geneva).

Early next morning, the first light.

A thin moon sliver just visible in the light of dawn.

And then, finally, the sun itself rising from behind the mountains.

Beautiful morning light on the way back to Les Avants.

And then through the Gorge du Chauderon. Always pretty in there, any time of year.

And finally arriving in Montreux, with the lake and the mountains in the background.

An early morning panorama from the top of Le Molard.

The full hike and elevation profile.
