Lauwersmeer, The Netherlands

18 April 2015

A walk in the Lauwersmeer nature reserve, on the border of the provinces of Groningen and Friesland.

A view across the "Waddenzee" (the shallow sea to the north of The Netherlands).

You can actually see the island of Schiermonnikoog, with its two lighthouses.

Walking on top of the dike, with sheep grazing and lazying around.

Some of the smaller lakes on the inland side of the dike.

This guy was hiding, but I managed to get a glimpse of it.

I just thought this tree looked kind of nice, out there all by itself.

A view across the actual Lauwersmeer, which used to be part of the open sea, but was dammed in and turned into a lake a long time ago.
