A three week hiking vacation to escape the European winter...
Hike 1: From Cruz del Carmen to Punta del Hidalgo (TF 10), in the Anaga mountains (north of La Laguna). Rocks and ocean.
Hike 2: From Vilaflor to the Paisaje Lunar (TF 72), with some interesting erosion-shaped rock formations.
Hike 3: Camino alto de Los Organos (TF 35), up from Orotava. Nice hike with views of El Teide.
Hike 4: From Puerto de la Cruz to San Juan de la Rambla, along the rocky coast. Still hear the waves crashing on the shore...
Hike 5: From the Parador to El Portillo (National Park Trail No. 4), along the inside of the caldera in Teide national park. Stunning views.
Hike 6: From Taganana to Playa de Tamadite, Afur, and back to Taganana (a slightly shortened version of TF 8). It began as a beautiful sunny day, but it became progressively more cloudy, with even some rain, later in the day. Quite dramatic though...
Hike 7: Well, not a true hike, really. More of a leisurely walk through the lovely hill-side village of San Andres and along the Playa de las Teresitas, just north of Santa Cruz.
Hike 8: Malpais de Güimar. Some of the more recent lava flows on Tenerife. Still rough, rugged, and impressive.
Hike 9: From the Parador to the top of Guajara (National Park Trail No. 5 & 15), the highest point along the caldera (2718m). Wonderful views on all sides!
Hike 10: From Adeje up to Lomo de las Lajas. Was walking in the clouds for most of the hike, but this made it very "mystical" indeed...
Hike 11: The Barranco de Masca, from the small village of Masca (600m) through a spectacular steep and narrow canyon down to the ocean. Then with a boat along the Acantilados de los Gigantes back to "civilization". Hard to really capture on camera, but walking down through this gorge is simply amazing.
Hike 12: From Taborno via Pico del Ingles down to Santa Cruz (TF 2), in the Anaga mountains. Mixed weather (some sun, some rain, clouds blowing in and out), but wonderful views all along the way.
